What’s the best music mastering software?
For music mastering, there are two pieces of software I’d like to recommend.
1. IK Multimedia T-RackS 3 Standard and Deluxe
My favorite is T-Racks. There ‘s the T-RackS 3 Standard which sells for about 200 dollars and the T-RackS 3 Deluxe for about 400. As the price would suggest, T-RackS 3 Deluxe is the better one with more features. But if you’re on a budget, the standard version will do the trick. It’s great for the price. The Deluxe version offers a few more goodies but if you’re like me you can live without them.
I highly recommend T-RackS 3. It has all you need to master recordings to the highest standards. If you want your old recordings to come alive and jump out of your monitors, this is it. The software is easy to use as long as you understand the basics of limiting, compression and EQ. If you’re not very knowledgeable on these subjects try some of the presets. All you have to do is open T-Racks, drag and drop one of your songs into it, pick one of the mastering presets and listen.
Perhaps you could try out one of the presets and tweak it to meet the needs of your recording. When you’re done you can save the custom settings. If you want to make good mixes sparkle and sound really professional, this software will do. It requires work on your part, but keep spending time with the software and you’ll wonder how you lived without it.

2. iZotope Ozone 4 Complete Mastering System Software
The second piece of music mastering software I’d like to recommend is iZotope Ozone 4. It sells for about 200 dollars online. If you’ve got a home recording studio like I do and are delving into mastering, you can’t go wrong with iZotope Ozone 4. iZotope Ozone 4 combines seven essential mastering processors into one complete system. It lets you give your mixes a finished, full and professional sound.
If you’re new to mastering you will love the fact that this product comes with tons of presets. I like the fact that the instruction manual is so well written and easy to understand. It explains the features very well and gives pointers to those who are new to the mastering process. I find the quality of iZotope Ozone 4 to be amazing.
If you want your song to be presented in their best light, then this mastering software is worth every penny. As long as you learn how to use it and don’t rely totally on presets you will be very pleased with its output.
